Wednesday 10th August

We had to fill the urn up twice this morning at the Crooked Billet!

Great to have Ian & Sarah from Saffron Building Society, Ware, pop in too. Looks like we can start building a working relationship that will help further to bring people together in Ware.

Another new Venue

We started on 27th October at the Saffron Walden Building Society in Ware High Street. Huge thanks to Ian, Sarah and the Saffron Walden team for their support and welcome. Big thanks to Kim Hale, member peioneer from my Co Op stores in Hertford, Bengeo and Stanstead Abbots, for great support.

March 2023

The Local Social Directors completed Safeguarding training. This was Herts Community Foundation funded and delivered by the excellent Miriam Feehily.

April 2023

Excellent meeting with many great presentations from local organisations and parents organised by Social Prescriber, Simon Hallow.

One of the outcomes is that we are now on the Frontline, digital platform and able to receive and make introductions. Well worth checking out to find us and so many other local organisations that can be contacted.

March 2025

It is with great sadness that we report that Karin passed away after a short illness on Tuesday 25th February.

Karin was a founder member and Director of Local Social. Karin inspired the setting up of Local Social in April 2016 and her input and ideas have become central to our work in Ware. Karin was a loyal member, travelling on the bus from Hertford to so many of our ‘meet ups’, often three or four times a week. She made many friends and cared about he people that came along, understanding the need for friendship.

Karin will be missed by us all but will be fondly remembered by so many people.

November 2025

Our numbers continue to grow and are now 120-130 folk each week.

The partnership with Hertfordshire Health Walks is a great success. The First Steps walk, on the flat and about 30minutes duration, leaves Leaside Church at 10am.  Andy and Jane have done the leaders course and it’s always a pleasure walking and chatting with the group. Bronte enjoys it too.

The Saffron Building Society have funded our hire fees at Leaside for the next two years for which we are hugely grateful. The use of the Community Link, in their office on Ware High, is a comfy and welcoming place to be, with a coffee machine.

Recently, we have tweaked our venues and are now in Saffron Community Link on a Monday 12.oopm-1.30pm and in Leaside on a Thursday morning 10.30am-12.00pm.

Sovereign Network Group have been generous in funding us lunches at the Grange and our weekly  coffee mornings. We are excited to work with Always Bee You on a project ‘Pleased to Meet You’ that will be starting at the Grange in the New Year.
